When fully closed, the jaws of the vise meet only on top of the workpiece, ensuring even clamping at all depths.
To ensure long-term trouble-free service, these are manufactured with close-grained gray cast iron. Under the bench top, the square body seating fits easily, so the jaws are flush with the surface. With its buttress threads, the steel main screw provides smooth, accurate, and responsive adjustment.
Both the body and the sliding jaw of the vice can be fitted with wooden liners in order to protect them, the tools, and the work piece.
